IMG Arena has filed a claim against rival fastpath data provider Stats Perform at the UK’s High Court of Justice, alleging Stats hired scouts to collect betting data across several European football leagues exclusively contracted with IMG.
The claim, which has been seen by SportBusiness, alleges that Stats Perform “covertly and unlawfully” obtained, processed and exploited data from football matches included in IMG Arena’s exclusive betting data rights deal with European Leagues, struck last year.
The claim is primarily grounded on Stats Perform’s alleged violations of “local ticket conditions or ground regulations” at the matches in question, which would prevent the unauthorised distribution of material that could be used for the purpose of betting, gambling or commercial activities while in the stadium.
