Nearly three years after construction first began in early 2022, The Rose gaming resort is now open for business in Dumfries.

The $460 million facility, which includes eight restaurants and bars and a gaming floor featuring 1,650 slots-like betting machines, opened to the general public the first time on Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to Dumfries Mayor Derrick Wood.

The Rose first opened for a private event on Monday, Oct. 21. It is now in a “soft opening” phase, Wood said. A grand opening event and ribbon-cutting is planned for Thursday, Nov. 7…

“They’re training their staff,” Wood said. “It’s like a football team practicing before a big game.”
