A study has shown that on days when Social Security pays, gambling rates go up.
A West Virginia University doctoral student, Matt Mullis, has found concerning patterns in West Virginia’s gambling data.
One finding shows that senior citizens may be spending most of their Social Security income on gambling.
Director of Marketing and Communications at 1-800-GAMBLER, Sheila Moran believes that senior citizens are having issues due to their gambling habits based on of the phone calls she receives. “The calls that we get from older adults are the saddest because first of all, they don’t have the time often to make this money up.”
