Representatives of Wynn Resorts Ltd. have acknowledged the data breach from its computer system first reported Friday, but have not said whether executives paid a $1.5 million ransom demanded by a suspected team of computer hackers.
In an emailed statement issued late Tuesday morning by the Las Vegas-based luxury resort company, Wynn officials said an unauthorized third party stole employee data records, but reportedly have deleted them.
“We have learned that an unauthorized third party acquired certain employee data,” an email from company spokesman Michael Weaver said. “Upon discovery, we immediately activated our incident response protocols and launched a thorough investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts.”
