The end of the football season took its toll on the amount of action taken by online sports betting sites in the Empire State.
Numbers reported by the New York State Gaming Commission on Thursday show the state’s nine online sportsbooks handled $339.6 million in bets during the week ended February 19, down from $424.3 million the week before.
The dropoff was due to the end of the National Football League’s season, as the Super Bowl was played on February 12. However, the fact there was no big event like the Super Bowl last week may have helped New York operators with their weekly receipts.
