Two bills to legalize sports betting in Oklahoma passed out of the House on Wednesday.
After several years of trying to pass legislation to bring sports betting to the state, lawmakers brought it one step closer to reality. Oklahoma is currently one of only 10 states that doesn’t have sports betting.
House Bill 1101, authored by state Rep. Ken Luttrell, passed 66-29 off the House floor. House Bill 1047, also authored by Luttrell, passed 62-31 off the House floor.
“Members, if you have been around here for very long at all and just are not a freshman, you’ve seen this bill before. We’ve passed this language before, and I want to commend the members of this chamber for your foresight and being knowledgeable enough to understand the economics of sports betting in the state of Oklahoma,” Luttrell said.
