A bill that would have allowed plans for a Santee casino to move forward did not make it through the South Carolina General Assembly this year.
The “I-95 Economic and Education Stimulus Act,” failed to come before the full S.C. House for a vote before lawmakers adjourned on May 8.
“We recognize that the South Carolina General Assembly is addressing a wide range of important issues this session — from tax reform and liquor liability to insurance regulations and restructuring state government for greater efficiency,” casino developer Wallace Cheves of the Santee Development Corporation said in a prepared statement.
“These are serious matters, and we appreciate the commitment and diligence lawmakers have shown in tackling them,” he said.
