The provincial government is creating a second Crown corporation with “gaming” in its name.

Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS), a new commercial Crown that will oversee gaming policy and management, will eliminate real or perceived conflicts as a result of both the regulatory and licensing bodies being under Sask. Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) oversight, Crown Investments Corporation Minister Don Morgan told reporters Thursday.

Gaming regulation will be consolidated within SLGA. When fully operational, LGS will oversee all casinos, VLTs, online gaming, and lotteries in the province.

“This new Crown will allow us to keep pace with the rapidly changing gaming landscape while maintaining the unique character of having distinct operators in the province, including Sask. Lotteries, SaskGaming and SIGA,” Morgan said in a press release.
