One of the first faces you see when walking through the door at Bally’s Twin River Casino is Michael “Mickey” Palmieri.
Unlike other greeters, who typically have the gift of gab, Palmieri is non-verbal.
He was born with cerebral palsy, and uses one of his hands to maneuver a Tobi tablet that’s connected to his wheelchair.
The tablet, which has a loud speaker, has the technology to wish others well and act as a form of communication for Palmieri.

“If he wants to say something he can key it in, push pictures that’ll communicate for him and he does do a little bit of sign language too,” said Tami Fonseca, an instructor for Project Search.
