Love was not in the air this Valentine’s Day when Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine delivered a rejection on zoning changes to build a massive casino and resort over the exposed tracks at Hudson Yards, while Related tried to woo the community with a multimillion-dollar trove of “benefits”.
Levine recommended disapproval of Related Companies proposal for the Western Rail Yards, making him the first elected official to publicly weigh in on the controversial project, which has gained the ire of the local Community Board and leaders of the High Line, while earning the support of labor union leaders and nonprofits.
