The NCAA is doubling down on its fight against sports wagering controversies.
Following a recent swath of high-profile gambling cases at Iowa, Iowa State and Alabama over the last year, college sports’ governing body is rolling out a new sports wagering e-learning module that will be integrated into the education provided to incoming student-athletes via their NCAA Eligibility Center accounts.
“With the experience of legalized sports betting, we’re now in a situation where it’s in your face every day,” said Mark Hicks, managing director of NCAA enforcement development. “It’s available to student-athletes and our administrators. That means we need to up our influence with education and that type of thing.”
