Casino workers in Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Charlevoix and Gatineau voted Thursday at a general meeting to call an unlimited general strike starting this Friday.
The dispute with the employer has reached an impasse, said Riccardo Scopelleti, president of the Casino de Montréal-CSN security workers’ unit.
Despite the strike, which affects some 1,700 employees, the Casino du Lac-Leamy, the Trois-Rivières gaming hall and the Quebec City gaming hall are open as usual, Loto-Québec said in a statement.
Casinos in Montreal, Charlevoix and Mont-Tremblant are open according to a modified schedule specific to each establishment, and certain services will be offered on a limited basis.
