A change in President Donald Trump’s spending bill could have big consequences for Nevada, as it includes a new tax rule affecting gambling losses.
The provision changes how much bettors can deduct in losses. The revised tax code now lets gamblers deduct just 90% of their losses, against 100% of their winnings.
Leading the opposition is Democratic Congresswoman Dina Titus, who introduced a bill to counter the charge. Titus held a town hall Monday at Las Vegas City Hall.
“It’s a very simple change, but has a great deal of impact,” said Titus in her opening remarks, in regard to the provision.
