PointsBet Canada has agreed to suspend its Ontario online gambling platform for 48 hours after reaching a settlement with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) over alleged failures to report suspicious NBA betting activity linked to Jontay Porter.
The agreement resolves regulatory proceedings initiated in February 2026, when the AGCO issued a Notice of Proposed Order and proposed a five-day suspension of the operator’s igaming registration.
The commission’s actions followed questions about whether PointsBet had identified and reported unusual bets associated with Porter, who had received a lifetime ban from the NBA over a betting scandal, before eventually pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2024.
The AGCO had previously asked regulated sportsbooks in the Canadian province to disclose whether they had offered wagers involving Porter or detected irregular betting activity.
