Penn Entertainment broke ground Monday on a new $180 million to $200 million Hollywood Casino in Council Bluffs that will replace the aging Ameristar riverboat and also add new restaurants and a parking garage to the property.
The new Hollywood Casino Council Bluffs is expected to open in 2028. The project will include approximately 1,000 slot machines and 25 table games, along with the first Shake Shack in the Omaha metro area and a new fast-casual Asian restaurant, Red Lotus.
The casino will be built in the existing Ameristar parking lot and connected to the property’s existing pavilion and hotel. The 160-plus hotel rooms, 1853 Bistro and Steakhouse, Sportsbook Restaurant and Bar, Club 38 VIP Lounge and buffet will remain, PENN said in a news release.
