The vote to overturn the city’s long-time ban on the gambling devices came after Rob Bady, a sales rep for Addison-based Universal Gaming Group and a former 8th Ward aldermanic candidate, said he had several local restaurants interested in hosting the machines.

“They’re the same machines that are in Vegas,” Bady told the committee, adding that across Illinois there now are more such machines than there are in the Nevada gambling mecca.
