Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has signed a law banning online wagers on greyhound racing.

Greyhound racing in Oregon has been illegal since Governor Kate Brown signed SB 1504 in March 2022. However, bettors have been able to place pari-mutuel wagers on races held in other US states. Oregon was one of only two US states to allow online betting on greyhound racing, the other being North Dakota.

Oregon accounted for 57% of online bets on greyhound racing in the US, reaching US$155 million.

HB 3020 will come into force by 1 July, 2027, ending online greyhound betting and simulcasting betting on dog racing.

Greyhound racing opposition organization GREY2K USA applauded the move.
