When opportunities to benefit all Texas residents present themselves, it’s essential to take advantage of them.
I hope our state lawmakers keep this in mind as they consider legislation this upcoming session that would allow Texans to legalize sports betting through a constitutional amendment ballot initiative.
Tax revenue could be generated and consumers would be protected if we legalized sports betting. Unfortunately, our state is restricted by laws that prevent this.
Texans are already participating in sports betting, but they do so through illegal offshore platforms that are beyond the reach of U.S. laws and protections or by traveling to neighboring states that reap all the benefits.
