On Tuesday afternoon, Greater Sudbury city council approved two requests from Gateway Casinos for municipal funding to pay for road work tied to its proposed casino on The Kingsway.
An added amendment calls for the use of future Ontario Lottery and Gaming revenues to replenish the city reserve being used for the project, which the city says will mean no impact on the municipal tax levy.
Gateway will pay for a new signalized intersection at The Kingsway and future Street “A” up front. Once the work is completed and taken over by the city, Gateway will be reimbursed for eligible costs, up to $3.035 million [US$2.177 million].
