Pickering Casino Resort is opening up its doors again after being closed for several days following the shooting death of a security guard.
According to Great Canadian Entertainment spokesperson Chuck Keeling, the casino will be operational again as of 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.
On Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 9, police were called to the casino at 5:05 a.m. when shots rang out inside the facility.
When police arrived, they found a security guard with gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was rushed to hospital and died of his injuries. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Michael Ferdinand.
