Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd. is keeping a tight lid on their intentions for the land they purchased within the Kingsway Employment District.
Earlier this week, Sudbury.com broke news that Gateway Casinos had made the land purchase on June 30.
A land title search revealed that the company had purchased the land from Kingsway Entertainment District Inc., which signaled a potential step toward their long-established plan to build a casino on the property.
This step occurred after their efforts to develop on The Kingsway appeared dead in July 2022. At the time, city council members pulled funding from a municipal arena/event centre project at the site, which signalled the Kingsway Entertainment District’s demise.
