Gov. Mike DeWine is raising concerns that legalizing online poker, casino games and other forms of betting as currently being considered in the Ohio legislature could significantly increase gambling problems, particularly among young people.
“Just so everybody understands, this would be 24-7. Anybody who’s got an iPhone could basically have a casino there. And the potential for addiction is just massive,” DeWine said, speaking after a business event for a new tech company outside Cleveland on Thursday.
The governor, however, stopped short of saying he would veto a so-called iGaming proposal.
