There’s still no official launch date for legal mobile sports betting in North Carolina, as the state lottery’s sports betting committee didn’t discuss a timeline at Thursday’s meeting.
The committee did, however, share that it wants operator applicants to submit proposed internal controls by the end of January. That’s a key step in the process of getting applicants ready to launch.
Governor Roy Cooper recently suggested that the lottery’s goal is to make legal North Carolina betting apps available to customers prior to March Madness, which begins on March 19. The commission has previously said that a mobile betting launch will come after the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.
