Jake’s 58 casino in Islandia remained closed Wednesday evening while staff try to resolve an “unexpected issue,” Suffolk OTB president Phil Boyle said.

The video lottery casino did not open Wednesday morning after workers discovered an unidentified problem at 7 a.m., Boyle said. Technicians were still “working on the system” early Wednesday afternoon, he said.

The casino was expected to reopen at 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to an updated statement on the Jake’s 58 website. But Wednesday evening, Boyle said technicians were still doing repairs and were “about three-quarters done.”

He said, at about 7:45 p.m.: “We’re hoping to get it up sometime tonight.” The casino operates from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily.
