Nassau County tells News 12 that it will rework its lease approval process in its ongoing efforts to build a resort and casino at the Nassau Hub.

The move comes after a state judge ruled in February that the Las Vegas Sands does not have a valid lease to operate the Nassau Coliseum and the land around it. A state judge also ruled that Nassau County approved the lease without a proper public hearing or an environmental review.

Las Vegas Sands claimed that it held leaseholder rights in a deal it had with the Nassau Coliseum’s previous owner.

In a statement, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said, “In spite of delays and changing circumstances, we are fully committed to deal with Sands to bring a world-class hotel, entertainment center, casino and spa to Nassau County.”
