For the first time ever, New Jersey gamblers lost more money on the internet than they did by visiting Atlantic City casinos in 2025, helping pave the way for a record year that wasn’t setting off any celebrations in the seaside gambling resort.
Figures released Friday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement show the state’s casinos, internet gambling hubs and horse tracks that take sports bets won nearly $7 billion from gamblers in 2025, the best collective year the industry has ever had.
But money from the thriving internet gambling industry, as well as from sports bets, must be shared with outside parties including technology platforms and sportsbooks, and is not solely for the casinos to keep for themselves.
