New Jersey gambling regulators have fined DraftKings $32,500 for violations including taking bets on sporting events that had already ended and whose outcomes were already known.
The online sports betting and casino giant also was cited for taking bets on how many wins Rutgers University’s football team would win in 2021 (betting on New Jersey college teams is prohibited) and other violations.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement revealed the fine this week, saying it has accepted DraftKings’ offer of $32,500 to settle the matters. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
According to a letter the DGE sent DraftKings on Nov. 25, the company accepted wagers on NCAA women’s volleyball games in November 2024 but failed to prevent the reopening of those markets the next day — a day after the games had already concluded.
