As problem gambling grows, will NJ limit in-game sports betting?

More primary care doctors need to screen for gambling disorders and students in middle and high schools throughout the state need more education about the potential harms of placing bets, advocates and mental health professionals warn.

Their concerns, highlighted recently at a conference in Princeton, stem in part from the growth of a fast-paced type of sports betting that is becoming increasingly popular in the gambling industry.

Microbetting, as it is known, offers gamblers ways to place rapid-fire bets on specific, in-game events instead of waiting for the outcome of a single game to win or lose money.
