A new gambling venue at the site of an old Ann Summers shop in Belfast city centre has been given the go-ahead despite opposition from the city’s oldest church who said it would be a “bad neighbour” for the place of worship.
At the December meeting of the Belfast City Council Licensing Committee, an amusement permit was granted for Twilight Zone at 51 Rosemary Street, off Royal Avenue.
Nine elected representatives from Sinn Féin, the SDLP, and Alliance, voted in favour of the application.
Meanwhile, eight from the three unionist parties, Alliance, and the Green Party voted against, with the Alliance Party split over the matter.
