The WarHorse Casino in Lincoln may soon become the first facility in Nebraska to legally take sports wagers.
“We’re going to be starting sports wagering probably by the end of May,” said Lynne McNally, the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association vice-president. She said it’s just in time for the NBA finals and College World Series.
“However, don’t forget, we can’t bet on any Husker games or Creighton games, if they’re at home,” McNally said.
While the Lincoln casino has had over 400 slot machines up and running since September, Omaha’s Warhorse facility has yet to offer any gaming. It is continuing to work on fixing roads and sewer with tax increment financing from the city of Omaha.
