Grand Island’s new casino wants to add uniformed police officers.
The Grand Island City Council is being asked to approve a five-year contract with Grand Island Casino Resort.
Under the agreement, uniformed officers would be allowed to work overtime shifts at the casino when staffing allows. The casino would reimburse the city for the full cost of that overtime.
City officials say the contract clearly defines expectations, liability, and insurance requirements, and formalizes an arrangement that’s already been used periodically in 2025.
The matter will come before the council on Tuesday.
