Called the “Missouri Indoor Clean Air Act,” House Bill 1618, sponsored by Missouri Rep. Bruce Sassman, and House Bill 926, sponsored by Missouri Rep. Adrian Plank, would not allow smoking indoors is passed.
There are exceptions outlined in the legislation, but one key area that will prohibit smoking is inside casinos.
Joe Hafley, founder and leader of Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects (C.E.A.S.E.) in Kansas and Missouri, praises both bills as a move in the right direction.
“It’s not just for banning smoking,” said Hafley. “It’s for protecting workers from secondhand smoke.”
