Potawatomi Casino Hotel isn’t waiting to build a big new concert venue to start booking big concerts.

Dominic Ortiz, property chief executive officer and general manager for the Milwaukee casino and hotel, revealed plans on Thursday for a temporary outdoor concert venue that can accommodate nearly 6,000 people, with up to 2,800 seats, that would be up and running this summer — including the potential to be used during the Republican National Convention in town July 15 to 18.

Ortiz wasn’t available for comment to the Journal Sentinel Thursday. He revealed the plans at a Power Breakfast event at the Pfister Hotel, an event hosted by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
