The Michigan Legislature struck a bipartisan deal [June 29] to allocate $50.7 million in annual funds to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The budget agreement, which would take effect Oct. 1 (the start of Michigan’s 2024 fiscal year), is now headed to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s desk for approval, which she’s expected to grant.

Highlighting the MGCB’s handsome haul is a $3 million earmark for the continuation of its “Don’t Regret the Bet” responsible gambling campaign, which launched nearly four months ago as March Madness was about to tip off. The campaign includes radio and TV PSAs, as well as digital billboards, point-of-sale video ads at gas stations, and a website providing tips to help Michiganders keep their gambling under control.
