MGM Grand Buffet in the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip is closing after service on May 31, the property said in a Friday announcement that also revealed there were “no immediate plans for the space.”

Once the MGM Grand Buffet closes, only a half-dozen or so will remain at properties on the Strip. By some estimates, during their heyday, about 70 buffets flourished along the resort corridor, but in recent years, their numbers have dwindled.

Some properties elected not to reopen buffets because of public health concerns as the city emerged from the pandemic. Dining preferences have also shifted away from buffets (with younger diners especially preferring food halls).
