Will Taunton receive a share of the revenue from the Mashpee Wampanoag First Light Casino, which has been up and running in temporary trailers for months?
On March 21, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and the city of Taunton signed a new agreement regarding the Taunton casino. According to that March agreement, Taunton will receive 2.05% of the casino’s net slot revenue beginning Sept. 30 — but the payments would be conditional on a key financial metric for the casino called “EBITA” not being in the red.
But on July 8, the Taunton City Council discussed a new draft agreement that would have had a different payment structure.
