A new mobile app could be a foot in the door for those seeking help for problem gambling, state officials said as they launched an offering they hope will connect with people as gambling increasingly moves from casino floors to the privacy of each bettor’s cellphone.
The Department of Public Health’s Office of Problem Gambling Services announced the Evive app this week, describing it as “designed for people who may not yet feel ready for clinical services but are seeking a safe, supportive way to start making changes.” With daily check-ins, progress tracking, evidence‑based lessons and peer support features, DPH said Evive is meant to provide “another pathway into recovery — one that meets people where they are and helps them move forward at their own pace.”
