Boston-based DraftKings, one of the online sports wagering companies to recently launch in Massachusetts, is petitioning state regulators for the opportunity to allow customers to bet on the outcome of the Boston Marathon.
In a request submitted on March 31, DraftKings is asking the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to include the historic marathon among allowed events for wagering on their platform. The request is included among materials for Thursday’s scheduled MGC meeting.
“There are about 70 participants in the professional field for the 2023 marathon. DraftKings will only be offering the top 20 men & women professional winners and men & women winning time (over/under) for wagering,” the DraftKings request states.
