Maryland qualifies 11 to offer mobile sports betting; launch likely by year’s end

Baltimore-area casinos are among the Maryland entities that are one step closer to offering mobile sports betting, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission.

Horseshoe Casino and Live! Casino and Hotel are among the businesses that the Maryland Sports Wagering Application and Review Commission found qualified for mobile wagering. Additionally, SWARC approved licenses for sportsbook operators to conduct mobile sports wagering in Maryland.

SWARC is expected to award those licenses at its meeting next month, which means mobile sports betting is likely to be up and running by the end of the year…

Under Maryland’s sports wagering law, the MLGCC conducts background investigations to determine whether an entity has demonstrated the honesty, integrity, good character and financial stability to be qualified for a sports wagering license.
