The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has welcomed a landmark pan-European standard for identifying risky player behavior, committing its members to align with it across their operations.

Europe’s biggest online gambling operators have thrown their weight behind the new standard designed to help identify players at risk of harm, marking what the EGBA described as a significant step forward for player protection.

The standard, known as EN 18144, was published on 31 May 2026 through national standardisation bodies of the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).
