Macau’s gross gaming revenue reached MOP$20.3 billion (US$2.51 billion) in July, down 8.4% year-on-year although representing a slight improvement compared with June, according to information from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).
The July result was again impacted by the World Cup, which stretched through until the final on 19 July. Both Sands China and MGM China have in recent weeks acknowledged that premium volumes were down for the duration of the tournament as players diverted their gaming spend.
For the first seven months of 2026 combined, GGR has risen by 4.4% to MOP$147.2 billion (US$18.2 billion).
Despite the World Cup, industry analysts had pointed to improvement in the weeks since the final between Spain and Argentina while adding that a star-studded events line-up over the coming months should give gaming revenues some positive momentum.
