To date, $1.4 billion has been wagered in sports betting, making the state a winner. At the Thursday West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Ronnie Johns reported on the financial impact of casinos and shared the latest sports betting numbers available.
“These numbers are from November 2022 when we went live with retail sports betting through the last month of July,” Johns said. “Mobile sports betting went live in January in time to capture the NFL championship games. But with that said, $1.4 billion is an incredible number, and what’s interesting about that number is we haven’t even had a football season yet. The NFL starts this weekend, so I think we’re going to see some crazy numbers.”
Seventeen of the 20 licenses have been awarded, according to Johns.
