Some in Clay County are pushing back against a proposed nine-figure casino project that would be built by the White Earth Nation on land near Dilworth.

Though the project is still in the early planning stages, this week, the tribe came out with a report anticipating a casino would bring high revenue streams and hundreds of jobs to the region.

Clay County resident Mark Harless said that report does not account for unintended consequences. “My original thought was I don’t think it’s going to be a good addition to the city of Moorhead or Clay County,” Harless said.

It’s now been more than a year since the White Earth Nation bought land just west of state Highway 336, with the intent of building a casino on that land.
