We will feel the effects of the pandemic on our economy for years.

One current estimate puts the damage to our state budget at $2.5 half billion over the next few years.

That kind of revenue is hard to come by – which could finally tip the scales in favor of legalizing sports betting in Florida.

“It would be a home run (for us),” remarks Palm Beach Kennel Club president Pat Rooney Jr.

Hundreds of TVs, tiered seating, secure betting windows – the Palm Beach Kennel Club is already set up to function as a sports betting palace.

“It wouldn’t even take a few months,” says Rooney. “We could be ready today.”

The only thing standing in the way is that betting on sports is not legal in Florida. That’s not stopping Floridians from doing it.
