Las Vegas, where live horse racing has been neither long-lived nor successful, could see yet another attempt to return the Sport of Kings to Sin City under a tech entrepreneur’s plan to build $550-million Thoroughbred track.
Despite previous failed efforts to stage live racing in the heart of the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas is nevertheless a mecca for Thoroughbred devotees and horseplayers. The National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) is the most prestigious and richest horse racing handicapping tournament in the world and held there annually.
Chip Meyers, founder of Bitcoin ATM company Hilt, said a his concept for a track to be known as Las Vegas Downs would be situated on a 55-acre stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard between Mandalay Bay and the M Resort, Casino.org reports.
