Proponents pushing to bring a casino to Cedar Rapids have presented their proposal to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) on Thursday.

The IRGC meeting took place in Bettendorf.

The Cedar Rapids Development Group and Linn County Gaming Association formally presented their application for a gaming license.

If approved, the proposed $275 million Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center would be developed in downtown Cedar Rapids.

The project is estimated to bring $80 million to the local economy and bring more jobs to the area.

The last time this happened was in 2017, but during the meeting on Thursday, the Linn County Gaming Association said this time is different.
