Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell posted on Facebook this Tuesday, that plans for Cedar Crossing Casino will move “full steam ahead” after Riverside Casino did not file an appeal in last month’s decision.

In June, a judge rejected a challenge from Riverside looking to stop the project. They had argued a 2021 vote authorizing gaming in the county was worded incorrectly and therefore invalid, while also saying the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission erred in awarding Linn County a gaming license.

Now, the $275 million casino and entertainment center is being constructed and will include 700 slot machines, 22 table games, signature restaurants including Clubhouse by Zach Johnson, a 1,500-seat venue for concerts and events, and an arts and cultural center with a free-access STEM lab for Linn County students.
