The popular riverboat casino in Marquette, Iowa, now called the Casino Queen, will soon be replaced by a land-based building operated by the Bally Company.

The Casino Queen has operated under different names, since opening as the Miss Marquette in December 1994.

The former Pink Elephant Restaurant near the Mississippi River bridge in Marquette has been an on-land dining room for the casino since the boat opened.

The proposed Bally’s Marquette casino is expected to cost about $21 million to build. It would provide 80 new jobs to the area that includes Marquette, McGregor, and Prairie du Chien.
