The court battle over the Cedar Crossing casino project in Cedar Rapids, and Linn County’s approval on a gaming license, will be moving to Louisa County later this spring.
Court filings from Monday show a hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at the Louisa County Courthouse in Wapello regarding the lawsuit from Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation against the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, the Linn County Gaming Commission, and Cedar Rapids Development Group, LLC.
Riverside and the Riverboat Foundation argue that Linn County’s 2021 ballot referendum on gaming wasn’t worded properly. The suit claims that means the IRGC didn’t have the legal grounds to approve Linn County’s gaming license application on Feb. 6.
