In a traditional year-end interview, Indiana Governor Mike Braun shared his thoughts on using a referendum as part of a possible Allen County casino, if the state could restore daycare vouchers soon, and if new energy sources would go online fast enough to keep up with emerging new data centers.
Previous published reports suggested Braun was leaning towards northeast Indiana as the site for a possible new or relocated casino, telling IBJ Media’s Innovate Central Indiana last week that downtown Indianapolis would generate revenue at the expense of other casinos.
When asked about the recently announced closing of Children’s Village Early Learning Center, which leadership said was caused by the cuts to daycare vouchers from the state, Braun was hopeful the money could be restored, but said it might be difficult to do so before 2027.
